Hello Barracuda Families! As we embark on a new and slightly unusual swim season, it is time to get organized regarding Parent Meet Worker Responsibilities. Like we mentioned during the parent meeting, running a swim meet is a labor intensive production with upwards of 65 workers needed to execute the meet from beginning to end. Some of these positions are entry level requiring no special training. However, some of the jobs require a little training to do them right. With this in mind, the Lake of the Woods Barracudas ask that one member of every family participate in one RSL Training each year. Most jobs have a two year certification with the exception of Stroke and Turn judges who must be certified yearly. Because there was no 2020 season, it is time for everyone to do training again! Please take a moment to visit the Meets/Events section of our website and explore the different jobs needed for our swim meets and choose one area to train in.  

As I mentioned last week, RSL is offering a variety of online/virtual trainings this year which is actually super convenient! 

Starter, Clerk of Course, Scorekeeper and Head Timer training will all be self-directed online and can be found at: https://rsl.swimtopia.com/training The updated training slides are located under the blue header of 2021 Training. Parent volunteers should click the link to whichever training you wish to take. Once done, you need to click the link in the green bubble to certify the training taken. (If multiple trainings reviewed, multiple certifications needed). 

Referee, Stroke & Turn: We always have a need for these positions! Two live virtual training sessions are being offered this year (one was last week during our Parent Meeting) and both will be recorded and posted for future reference or for those that can’t attend either of those two times. Parents must register in advance for these sessions! After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting you registered for. 

I will be contacting members who previously had been trained in certain areas to confirm that they can participate in same training again.
