Barracudas: Heading Into Week 9

Barracudas: Heading Into Week 9

Barracudas! We are heading into our final week of the summer swim season!

Lapathon - July 20th: Due to poor air quality on Friday July 18th, Lapathon has been rescheduled for Monday, July 20th. Lapathon will take place instead of regular practice and will follow the same schedule and times that were originally planned for Friday. Thank you for everyone’s flexibility with this schedule change. The safety and well-being of our swimmers is always our top priority, and we are excited to see everyone back in the pool on Monday!

Pep Rally - July 22nd: Our Pep Rally this year will have a superhero theme! The entire team will participate together at 9:00am. We will play games, have fun relays, and kick off Finals with great team spirit. This is always one of the most exciting events of the season for our swimmers! We are still in need of loose change for one of the activities we have planned. A donation jug will be available on deck for anyone who would like to contribute.

No Practice - July 24th: There will be no morning practice on the day of Finals. This will give swimmers a chance to rest and prepare before the big event, while also allowing our coaches and families time to get ready and arrive at the meet on time.

Finals - July 24th: Finals will be held at the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center in Stafford, VA.

Session 1 (Swimmers 10 & Under Individual Events)
Arrival: 2:45pm
On Deck and Ready for Stretches: 3:05pm
Meet Begins: 4:00pm

Sessions 2 & 3 (Relays, 100-meter Events, and Swimmers 11 & Older Individual Events)
Arrival: 5:15pm
On Deck and Ready for Stretches: 5:35pm
Meet Begins: 6:30pm

More information and reminders will be shared as we get closer to finals to help everyone prepare for this exciting event!

Barracudas Awards Ceremony - July 26th: Join us at the Sweetbriar Park Pavilion at 2:00pm for our end-of-season awards ceremony! The event will be potluck style, so please bring a dish to share as we celebrate our swimmers and an amazing season together. A signup sheet will be made available next week for families to choose an item(s) to bring. Thank you for helping make this a special event for our team!

Sportsmanship: As we head into our final week and prepare for Finals, it is important to remember that sportsmanship is key to building a positive team environment. This means cheering on teammates, staying positive, and waiting in the water during races until all swimmers have reached the end of the pool.

Lost And Found: The Lost & Found bin is still quite full! If your family is missing any items, be sure to stop by the area where the board sits during practice. We would be happy to help you look through the very full bin and reunite any lost items with their owners!

Let’s finish the season strong, Barracudas!
